Symmetry is the payroll infrastructure for software & payroll platforms powering the paychecks of over 64 million workers each year. Our fully integrated suite of payroll tax APIs and software tools allows companies to solve tax compliance issues and build applications across the entirety of the payroll process.

AI is a fundamental part of how work gets done at Symmetry. We expect all team members to actively engage with AI tools relevant to their role and grow their fluency as the technology evolves. AI experience requirements vary by role and will be assessed during the interview process.

About the Role:

Symmetry Software is seeking a dynamic and experienced Head of Marketing to lead our enterprise B2B marketing efforts. As a key member of the leadership team, you will create, shape, and execute our marketing strategy. You will empower a full stack enterprise marketing team, including demand generation, product marketing, digital marketing and online presence, sales enablement, analytics and reporting, and lifecycle marketing, all with AI at the core.

Symmetry is an AI native company, and our ideal candidate builds AI natively into how the marketing function operates. We’re looking for a strategic thinker with a deep understanding of technical products, including MCPs, APIs, and SDKs, who has a proven track record driving successful marketing initiatives in the enterprise space. You will operate in both a leadership and builder capacity. This role reports to the Head of Symmetry.

About the Team:

Symmetry Software is the payroll infrastructure for software and payroll platforms, powering the paychecks of over 64 million workers each year. Our fully integrated suite of payroll tax APIs and software tools helps companies solve tax compliance issues and build applications across the entire payroll process. Our AI products are increasingly reshaping what’s possible for tax compliance infrastructure when it comes to accuracy and speed. Symmetry is the heart of the payroll industry, providing best in class software support built on nearly four decades of experience with the most complicated tax and payroll scenarios across the country.

Here’s what you’ll do day-to-day:

• Develop Comprehensive Marketing Strategies: Craft and execute marketing plans aligned with Symmetry’s objectives, ensuring consistent brand messaging and market positioning.

• Drive Demand Generation and Lead Nurturing: Oversee multi-channel demand generation initiatives, attracting B2B enterprise clients and guiding them through effective lead nurturing programs.

• Build and Mentor a High-Performing Team: Lead a skilled marketing team, fostering innovation and collaboration in demand generation, product & lifecycle marketing, digital strategies, and sales enablement.

• Enhance Digital Presence and Visibility: Strengthen Symmetry’s digital presence through strategic online campaigns, SEO optimization, and compelling content, maximizing brand visibility and attracting qualified leads.

• Enable Sales Teams for Success: Provide sales teams with impactful collateral, training, and tools to effectively communicate technical product value, ensuring achievement of bookings targets.

• Implement Data-Driven Lifecycle Marketing: Develop customer lifecycle marketing programs, enhancing retention and loyalty, while identifying upsell and cross-sell opportunities to drive revenue growth.

• Amplify the Symmetry brand: Own and enhance the positioning and messaging of Symmetry’s brand.

• Leverage Data for Informed Decisions: Utilize analytics and reporting tools to collect, analyze, and interpret marketing data, making data-driven decisions to optimize campaigns, enhance customer experiences, and maximize ROI.

Here’s what we’re looking for:

• 12+ years of experience in B2B marketing, preferably in the enterprise technology sector with a focus on technical products, APIs, and SDKs. AI-Native builder.

• Passionate about empowerment: 5+ years of proven success in building and leading enterprise marketing teams across multiple disciplines, with a track record of leading, mentoring, and motivating a team to drive revenue growth.

• Domain expert: Strong understanding of digital marketing strategies, content marketing, and marketing automation tools. You have an analytical mindset, excel at data-driven decision-making and in leveraging marketing technologies.

• Excellent communication skills: You enjoy communicating both verbally and in writing with a diverse set of internal and external stakeholders.

• Technical acumen: You’ve marketed AI, API, and SaaS products that are built for developers and are able to effectively convey complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.

• Bias for action: Bring grit, a willingness to roll up your sleeves, and be a hands-on help to your team, not just a facilitator. Be the entrepreneurial player/coach who is a resourceful, not reliant leader.

• Impeccable execution: You have a track record of executing and delivering high quality work against complexities and limited resources. You’re able to partner with cross-functional teams to drive results. Other leaders and teammates love collaborating with you.

• Bonus: You have prior payroll or fintech experience.

Our cash compensation amount for this role is targeted at $186,400yr to $248,533/yr in Scottsdale & most remote locations, and $219,600/yr - $292,800/yr for San Francisco & New York. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including candidate experience and expertise and may vary from the amounts listed above.
Symmetry has a physical office space in Scottsdale. Employees who are based in those locations will be expected to work from the office on designated days approximately 2-3 days per week (or more depending on role).

When approved to work from a location other than the office, a secure, reliable, and consistent internet connection is required.

Reliable, consistent presence: We expect regular and predictable attendance, whether you’re working in-office, hybrid, or fully remote, so that you stay closely connected to your team, customers, and stakeholders in real time and ensure colleagues and customers receive the timely support and responsiveness they deserve.

Where you choose to spend 40 hours a week should be a place that challenges you professionally and aligns with your personal goals and well-being. We truly love what we do, and our customers love what we produce. Our family-owned and -operated business is collaborative, fun, and friendly. We offer the opportunity to work with all kinds of positions across the company, from the CEO to support to sales and everything in between.

Together, Symmetry and Gusto are pushing the entire industry forward by helping growing businesses access tools and services that for so long have only been available to larger corporations.

Our customers come from all walks of life and so do we. We hire great people from a wide variety of backgrounds, not just because it’s the right thing to do, but because it makes our company stronger. If you share our values and our enthusiasm for small businesses, you will find a home with us.

We are proud to be an equal opportunity employer. We do not discriminate in hiring or any employment decision based on race, color, religion, national origin, age, sex (including pregnancy, childbirth, or related medical conditions), marital status, ancestry, physical or mental disability, genetic information, veteran status, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, or other applicable legally protected characteristic. Our company considers qualified applicants with criminal histories, consistent with applicable federal, state and local law. Our company is also committed to providing reasonable accommodations for qualified individuals with disabilities and disabled veterans in our job application procedures. We want to see our candidates perform to the best of their ability. If you require a medical or religious accommodation at any time throughout your candidate journey, please fill out this form and a member of our team will get in touch with you.

At Gusto and Symmetry, we don’t use titles the traditional way, as a signal of rank or hierarchy. Instead, our titles describe two things at once — your craft (what you do, e.g. Engineering, Design) and your scope of ownership (what you’re accountable for) — which is why you’ll see something like “Head of X” instead of a rank word like “Director” that tells you neither. Because of this, the title on this posting may look different from what you’d expect based on the scope and seniority of the role, and from how similar roles are typically titled elsewhere. If you have questions about how this role compares to your current title or level, your recruiter can help translate.
