Solaris is Europe’s leading embedded finance platform, pioneering Banking-as-a-Service to bridge the gap between financial technology and licensed banking. Founded in 2016 and headquartered in Berlin, Solaris enables fintechs, digital ecosystems, and multinationals to embed accounts, cards, lending, and payments directly into their own products, creating seamless financial experiences for their users. As a fully licensed German bank, Solaris combines the highest standards of IT security and regulatory resilience with a modular, highly scalable infrastructure.

Today, Solaris is driving the next evolution of financial services by transitioning into an AI-native banking platform, ensuring European businesses can deploy secure, adaptable financial products at scale.

Why join Solaris?

• 🚀 We are fundamentally redesigning banking processes around AI orchestration, standardized modular building blocks, and embedded regulatory compliance.

• 🎯 We combine tech and banking in dedicated hubs - driving the technology infrastructure out of Berlin and banking operations out of Frankfurt.

• 💡 Through our internal mobility, growth opportunities, and the Solaris Academy, we offer continuous learning tracks, AI ambassador mentorship, and upskilling to keep your skills ahead of the curve.

• ⚖️ We foster a workplace rooted in integrity, proactive risk management, and equality actively driving initiatives like DEI initiatives.

Your Role

• Ensure that enterprise product strategy and architecture strategy match, reinforce each other, and drive business value. This includes shaping the enterprise’s AI adoption strategy - identifying where AI creates measurable leverage. Strike the right balance between long-term elegance, enterprise scalability, and short-term pragmatism.

• Provide authoritative architectural and technical guidance to senior stakeholders and the broader Tech area. Define and enforce enterprise-wide engineering standards, best practices, and architectural guardrails.

• Lead the design of complex, multi-domain systems. Actively participate in high-stakes architectural discussions, utilizing prototypes and proofs-of-concept to validate enterprise-level solutions before widespread rollout.

• Drive the department’s overarching technical roadmap. Evaluate the current tech portfolio, manage technical debt at an organizational level, and guide “build vs. buy” decisions.

• Act as a multiplier for technical talent. Help senior engineers and technical leads grow in their craft, fostering a culture of cross-team collaboration and architectural excellence.

We’d love to see

Depending on your level of experience, your responsibilities and scope of role will range. We don’t care much about fancy titles, but rather about real personal and professional development, as laid out in our learning framework. Let’s figure together out how you can contribute to our team.

• Deep, progressive work experience moving from a senior software developer to a high-impact architectural role (Enterprise, Principal, or Chief Architect) in a dynamic, scaled environment.

• Possess an expert understanding of modern enterprise technology landscapes and are highly comfortable governing our overall Tech Stack: AWS, Docker, Microservices, Golang, Java, Python, React.js, MySQL, Postgres, Redis, Concourse, GitHub, Prometheus. This extends to AI infrastructure.

• Have profound, enterprise-scale experience with AWS services. Understand how to design multi-account organizational structures, global network architectures, and complex application layers. Deeply familiar with cloud governance and security tools.

• Have comprehensive experience spanning Backend/APIs, Frontend/JS, System Design, and DevOps. Understand how these domains interact at a macroeconomic scale.

• Communicate flawlessly in written and verbal English.

• Have a deep understanding of agile and lean processes at an enterprise scale. Embrace end-to-end ownership and prefer to prove your ideas by measuring their impact, accepting that failure and rapid iteration are vital parts of innovation.

• Maintain a clear-eyed, pragmatic view of AI capabilities - able to cut through hype, identify where AI genuinely accelerates outcomes.

• Possess a strong ability to decode complex technical matters for non-technical executive audiences, while also being able to dive deep into the weeds with engineers.

• Collaborative, easy to work with, and actively contribute to a positive, blameless company culture.

Benefits

• Home office budget.

• Learning & development budget of €1000 per year and a transparent growth framework to support your career goals.

• Competitive salary and a variable remuneration program.

• Monthly meal allowance.

• Deutschland ticket subsidy.

• 28 vacation days, increasing by 2 days after 2 years and 3 days after 3 years with Solaris.

• Opportunity to work abroad for up to 12 weeks per year.
