About the role
We’re looking for a Data Architect to own our data warehouse and the integrations that connect our tech stack. You’ll design clean architecture, build two-way communication between our systems, and make sure data moves on time, accurately and without hiccups. You’ll be the person who knows how every system talks to every other system, and who keeps it that way as we grow.
This is an as-needed contract role, with workload varying by project and business needs. We’re not looking for a one-off freelancer, though. We want someone to build a long-term relationship with: a trusted partner who learns our systems inside and out and grows with us as we add sites, studies and tools. Pay Range: $20 - $30 / hr USD
What you’ll do
- Maintain our BigQuery data warehouse: schema design, data modeling, pipelines and performance
- Design, build and manage APIs and integrations with two-way sync between Salesforce, CRIO, Sage Intacct, BigQuery and other tools
- Create and maintain clear data mapping, field definitions and a data dictionary across all systems
- Monitor pipelines and integrations, set up alerting, and fix failures before they affect operations, finance or reporting
- Build and support the data models behind our Power BI dashboards so reporting is accurate and trusted
- Set standards for data quality, naming, access control and documentation
- Partner with leadership to turn business needs into scalable data solutions
- Protect sensitive data and keep all systems and integrations compliant with HIPAA privacy and security standards
Required qualifications
- Hands-on experience with Google BigQuery (data modeling, SQL, pipelines)
- Experience with Power BI (data models, datasets, DAX, dashboard support)
- Experience with Salesforce data structure, APIs and integrations
- Proven experience building and maintaining REST APIs and two-way system integrations
- Strong background in data architecture, ETL/ELT and data mapping
- Ability to work at least [4] hours overlapping with US Pacific Time (6:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m. PT)
- Clear written and verbal English and strong documentation habits
- Excellent communication skills: you can explain technical issues in plain language to non-technical teams, give proactive updates, flag risks early and respond promptly
Preferred qualifications
- Experience working with healthcare applications (e.g., CTMS, EHR/EMR or patient-facing systems)
- Working knowledge of HIPAA privacy and security requirements, including handling protected health information (PHI)
- Experience with CRIO or another clinical trial management system
- Experience with Sage Intacct or another ERP system (NetSuite, QuickBooks Enterprise, Dynamics, etc.)
- Experience in clinical research or another regulated industry
- Familiarity with integration or orchestration tools (e.g., MuleSoft, Workato, Zapier, Airflow, Fivetran, Cloud Functions)
